CEO and Co-Founder

Arindam Dasgupta

Arindam Dasgupta, CEO and Co-Founder of Tamul Plates Marketing Pvt Ltd, has over 20 years of experience leading the company since its inception in 2012. He focuses on both financial growth and community development, drawing inspiration from his belief in creating sustainable development through profitable business models. Arindam aims for Tamul to become a leading eco-friendly disposable tableware brand, creating compostable dinnerware to support rural livelihoods.

Arindam Dasgupta is the CEO and Co-Founder of Tamul Plates Marketing Pvt Ltd.

Arindam promoted Tamul in 2012. Prior to this, he also co-founded Dhriiti, a national-level NGO based in New Delhi.

In a career spanning over 20 years, he has steered Tamul towards growth and resilience, which is not only reflected in the balance sheets but also in the communities that he has nurtured over the years.

Arindam’s business acumen, integrity, responsibility, pioneering, and honesty stem from his childhood experiences in Jamshedpur. Coming from a family where his forefathers have worked for iconic business houses in India, Arindam has strived hard to create a robust business and yet deeply cared for its various stakeholders.

While pursuing Management in IIRMA, Arindam strengthened his belief in creating development through a profitable business model where every stakeholder had a slice of the winning pie.

Arindam envisions Tamul to become a profitable brand in the eco-friendly disposable segment, with a strong focus on creating sustainable livelihood and employment in rural India.

Within the company, Arindam has designed operational models where rural tribal communities value-add a natural resource in their villages and produce compostable dinnerware which is the sustainable solution to the pollution created by plastic disposables globally.

A true testament to his leadership lies in the ways Arindam has navigated Tamul through several crises — demonetization and 2018 and the COVID-19 pandemic. Under Arindam’s direction, Tamul has emerged stronger through these crises multiple times and penetrated newer markets generated more revenues, and impacted communities.

Under Arindam’s grit and commitment, today the equity of the Tamul brand is strong and the track record of creating consumer value and social impact is unparalleled.

Manabendra Pathak

Manabendra Pathak, Co-Founder and COO of Tamul, has over 20 years of experience in factory operations and expansion. With an engineering background, he has optimized production processes, reducing energy consumption and waste. He focuses on efficient, sustainable production while maintaining quality and sustainability standards. Manabendra’s experience across government, NGO, and private sectors has also shaped Tamul's inclusive policies, particularly in women's empowerment. Under his leadership, Tamul has increased production capacity with a new facility, aligning with global operational and sustainability standards.

Manabendra Pathak is the Co-Founder and COO of Tamul, bringing over 20 years of experience in leading factory operations and expansion. With an engineering background, Manabendra has been instrumental in driving Tamul’s innovative approach. His technical expertise has revolutionized the production process by streamlining workflows, reducing energy consumption, and minimizing waste in plate production.

At the factory, Manabendra continually optimizes operations to ensure efficient and sustainable plate production while addressing production challenges with creative solutions. His strengths lie in maintaining rigorous quality assurance and sustainability standards while meeting production targets.

With diverse experience across government, NGO, and private sectors, Manabendra’s commitment to women's empowerment has played a key role in shaping Tamul's inclusive policies. Under his leadership, Tamul has established a new facility to increase production capacity, aligning with global operational and sustainability standards.

Chief Impact Officer

Debaleena Ray

Debaleena Ray, Chief Impact Officer at Tamul Plates Marketing Private Limited, has over 18 years of experience in gender issues and women's empowerment. Transitioning from the not-for-profit sector to the for-profit sector, she recognized the power of entrepreneurship to uplift women. Since 2013, she has empowered tribal women in Northeast India through the areca nut leaf plate-making industry, creating resilient, women-led, eco-friendly product clusters. Debaleena aims to expand opportunities for women entrepreneurs in Northeast India and beyond, fostering financial independence and confidence.

Debaleena Ray is the Chief Impact Officer of Tamul Plates Marketing Private Limited. For over 18 years, Debaleena has been a passionate advocate for women's empowerment, driven by a deep understanding of the profound impact of gender inequality on women's lives. Her journey has taken her from the not-for-profit sector, where she delved into the complexities of gender inequality in the domains of Maternal and Child Health,
HIV/AIDS, and trafficking to the for-profit sector, where she discovered the transformative potential of entrepreneurship for women empowerment and equality.

Since 2013, Debaleena has been dedicated to empowering tribal women in Northeast India through the areca nut leaf plate-making industry. Her work with Tamul Plates Marketing Private Limited has been instrumental in the creation of successful women-led areca nut leaf plate-making clusters, generating sustainable income for these women micro-entrepreneurs. These women-led clusters produce ecofriendly plates and bowls which solve the twin challenges of environmental pollution and economic disparity. These women-led areca nut leaf plate-making clusters have proven to be remarkably resilient because even during the COVID-19 pandemic, these women continued to earn their income and support their families when every other income generation activity in rural North East India had ceased to exist.

Debaleena’s vision is to continue expanding opportunities for women entrepreneurs in Northeast India and beyond. Empowering women through financial indolence and participating in their journey fosters her personal growth and confidence.
